Session Abstract
The insurance industry is on the cusp of a major transformation as artificial intelligence (AI) becomes increasingly integrated across the entire value chain. In the next five years, AI will enable insurers to predict and prevent risks, make claims processing seamless, and supercharge the customer experience. This will have one of the most profound impacts seen to date on the industry, with insurers meeting more customer needs than ever, and running more productive, efficient and successful businesses.
One of the key ways in which AI is changing the face of the insurance industry is through the use of predictive analytics to identify potential risks and prevent losses before they occur. For example, water leak sensors in homes can be augmented with AI technology, enabling insurers to proactively take steps to mitigate potential losses. Similarly, AI can help people manage the rise of “modern” risks such as cyber risks as well as misinformation by flagging fake videos/images and helping insurance companies detect fraud more effectively.
Another way in which AI is transforming the industry is through the automation of underwriting and claims processing, reducing costs and uplifting efficiency with faster and more accurate services to customers, without the need for manual, laborious underwriting. In terms of customer experience, AI is enabling insurers to develop personalised insurance products that better meet the needs of individual customers while generative AI chatbots can help train agents and better explain products to customers.
By identifying specific risks and developing tailored insurance products with comprehensive coverage, customers can protect against the possible losses of today, as well as the changing risks in their future daily lives.
